The music producers from America collaborated with the space tourism company World View to record a concert at the edge of space in 2024.
The Andrew Taggart and Alex Pal who have had five Top 10 Billboard Hot 100 hits as a duo, have agreed to enter a capsule, which will be carried into the stratosphere by a giant balloon, which will carry them 32 kilometers above the Earth.
“We’ve always dreamed of going to space and we’re ready to partner with World View to have that adventure and experience“, they said in a statement, according to the AP.
“We know that the view from both Earth and space will be incredible and inspiring, and we hope to use this flight creatively in future projectsthey reported. Their space flight will last six to twelve hours.
World View CEO Ryan Hartman said the company hoped the event could inspire other artists to “do something different.” …”Being able to reach the Chainsmokers audience through Alex and Drew’s work contributes to our mission. It’s something that I’m personally inspired by and excited about“, he stated.
Hartman also told the AP that he chose to send the Chainsmokers into space in an effort to get younger audiences excited about space travel and that he was influenced by his youngest son.
Since the release of their hit Selfie in 2014, the Chainsmokers have won a Grammy Award, two American Music Awards and in 2019 dethroned Calvin Harris as the highest paid DJ.
