The Oscar-winning director reinvents the classic story about the wooden puppet. The highly anticipated film will premiere on Netflix in December
THE Pinocchio comes to Netflix like we’ve never seen him before, directed by him Guillermo del Toro.
The Academy Award-winning director reinvents the classic story about the wooden puppet who magically comes to life to heal the heart of a grieving carpenter named Geppetto.
This imaginative musical in stop motion, directed by Guillermo del Toro and Mark Gustafson, tells the adventures of the mischievous and unruly Pinocchio, who is looking for his place in the world.
The film premieres on Netflix in December, and what follows is the highly anticipated first trailer that was released on Wednesday afternoon.
The director said of the film: “No other art form has influenced my life and my work more than the art of animation, and with no other character have I developed such a close personal relationship as with Pinocchio.
In our story, Pinocchio is an innocent soul with an indifferent father, lost in a world he cannot understand. He embarks on a journey beyond the ordinary that helps him gain a deeper understanding of both his father and the real world. I’ve wanted to make this film for as long as I can remember.
After the incredible experience we had creating Trollhunters, I am grateful that the talented team at Netflix is giving me this opportunity of a lifetime to present my version of this strange puppet-turned-child to a global audience.”
