The singer Luiza Martins, 29, who played a country duo with Maurílio (1993-2021), seeks millionaire compensation for moral damages in a lawsuit against Workshow Produções Artísticas. In the action, she claims that the company signed several partnerships on behalf of the duo, but never passed on the amounts arising from these contracts.
In the case file, Luiza says that, in 2017, after the duo formed, she signed an agency contract with the company and businessman Wander Divino de Oliveira started to take care of the artists’ careers, however, according to the website Em Off, the company negotiation was not assisted by his lawyers.
“It is crucial to highlight that the Agency Agreement provided that, while the artistic enterprise did not make a profit, Mr. Wander would pay each member of the duo a paltry monthly amount of R$ 2,500.00 monthly, in addition to the payment of clothing for shows”, alleges the defense. “Despite the success that Luiza & Maurílio achieved, [Luíza] never received any amount beyond the BRL 2,500.00 referring to the adjusted allowance, under the allegation of Mr. Wander that, during all these years, the artistic enterprise would not have made a profit”.
In the process, the singer also asks the company to present the signed contracts involving the duo Luiza & Maurilio. With that, she wants the duo’s rights to be returned and charges an amount of R$ 2,146,597.03 for moral damages.
Luiza Martins also demands a fine of R$30 million for alleged irregularities committed by the company in the contracts signed on behalf of the duo.
