Barcarolles, Aries, Duetti and Ensembles, themes inspired by the sea, night and moon, from beloved operas by Bellini, Bizet, Catalani, Delibes, Dvořák, Gershwin, Gounod, Lehár, Mozart, Offenbach, Rachmaninoff, Rossini and Verdi as well as and works by Theodorakis, Xarchakou, Sakelaridis and Hatzidaki, were performed by the lyrical singers Vasiliki Karagiannis, Stamatina Karydis, Pantelis Kontos, Artemis Bogri, Anna Stylianaki and Angelos Hontrogiannis. They were accompanied on the piano by conductor Nikos Vassiliou and Marilena Eloul. Angela Fanariotis, violin. Cello Ambrosios Vlachopoulos. Spyros Kalogeropoulos accordion. The Youth Mandolinata also participated, consisting of Ioanni Gasterato, Maria Giannouli, Kaiti Dendia, Angeliki Dimouli, Antonis Zervopoulos, Alexia Thymi, Konstantina Karatzia, Stamatina Karydis, Nadia Kolovou, Popi Kourkoulou, Anna Mazaraki, Augustela Pouli and Andrea Skarlato. The direction and presentation of the evening was signed by Petros Gallias.

The event “The song of the sea-Varkarola” was implemented by the Municipality of Central Corfu and Diapontia Islands, in collaboration with the Organization of Corfu Events (OKE) and the support of the Nautical Sports Club of Corfu (NAOK), the Hellenic Scout Corps, the Association of Amateurs “Kontra Fossa” Fishermen, the Association of Amateur Fishermen of Garitsa-Windmill Bay, the Corfu Police Directorate-Traffic Department, the Central Port Authority of Corfu, the Fire Service of Corfu and ERT-ERA KERKYRA. The execution of the production and the technical support of the evening was undertaken by the EPTA, Technon Topos.
The celebration, which was attended by hundreds of people, ended at midnight, with dozens fireworks in the sky of the Ionian Sea.
