Roberta Miranda says she is ‘trisexual’ and comments on dating a transvestite at 16

Roberta Miranda, 65, opened up about her sexuality. The singer declared herself “trisexual”, but said that she always preferred to keep her personal life more private out of respect for her family, which was more conservative.

With a 36-year career, she revealed that she dated a transvestite named Luz del Fuego as a teenager. “I was very young, I was about 16 years old and she was about 20, 21”, she said in an interview with the newspaper O Globo. “It lasted about four months, but we really fell in love.”

“It was the first contact I had with someone with a sexuality between masculine and feminine”, he recalled. “Then I even created a joke, saying that ‘whoever eats everything, doesn’t go hungry’ (laughs).”

Miranda stated that this was one of the most important relationships of her life. “I think it was my one and only crush,” she said. “I lost contact, but many years later I saw her, no longer working as a transformist, and she took a swing.”

According to her, however, the romance did not go ahead because of “pressure from home”. “My family is from the northeast of traditional values, castrating”, she said. “My mother couldn’t know. She didn’t understand, she asked, ‘Why is this woman after you?’ My mother thought she was a woman.”

Despite being more open to talking about the topic, the singer said why she didn’t usually open up about her sexuality. “I’ve never liked to talk much about my personal life, I think it belongs only to me, and I’ve always been charged in an exacerbated way”, she lamented. “No one can judge anyone. And if they try to do it to me, I say: ‘It’s my life, my body is mine, I’m not asking to borrow yours.

“It’s not that I’m living my sexuality more fully now, I’ve always lived that,” he said. “But I’ve always been reserved, coming from a stricter family, and I respected that a lot. And, as my analyst says, some fantasies have to stay in fantasy.”
