Terry Crews Discusses Difficulty Overcoming Porn Addiction: ‘What Else Can I Do?’

by

Terry Crews, 54, opened up about his porn addiction and the struggles he faced in overcoming it. The actor of “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” and “White Girls” said that, in moments of “boredom”, he needed to focus on some other activity so he wouldn’t have relapses.

“At first it wasn’t easy, because I kept thinking, ‘What else can I do?’ , which deals with the dangers of this type of addition.

Crews said he had long kept his addiction hidden from even his wife, Rebecca King-Crews, and that it had damaged their relationship. “Pornography is like going crazy inside a drugstore,” she compared. “You’re like a loose child, picking up all sorts of things in there and you can be seriously damaged.”

The actor revealed that the consumption of pornographic videos has grown over time. “When I was a kid, I stayed away from pornography,” he said. “Now, you have the computer there, and the things that people have access to… Wow, we now have access to the most violent, degrading, heinous and criminal.”

He relied on medical and psychological support to turn around, but he said that the most difficult thing was when he was alone. “I would say: ‘ok, what am I going to do now?’. And then I would read a book. And I would stay there in the first paragraph, suffering”, he reported. “And then the second paragraph was interesting. And I went to the third paragraph, and I was like, ‘Wow.’
