Avril Lavigne: Pop-punk princess gets her own star in Hollywood

The Canadian singer is also celebrating the 20th anniversary of the release of her first album

The princess of pop-punk, Avril Lavigne, got her own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in a glittering ceremony to celebrate the 20th anniversary of her debut album Let Go. As she told “Variety” she had visited the famous Boulevard on her first trip to Los Angeles at the age of 16.

The Canadian singer recalled that visit during her speech as well, and emphasized: “I remember seeing these legendary names and never imagined that mine would be here too… It’s so crazy!! This is probably one of the best days of my life.”

After thanking her fiance Mod Sun, producer John Feldman and Machine Gun partner Kelly, among others, Lavigne closed her speech by saying, “I hope that the next 16-year-old who visits Hollywood from a small town full of hopes and dreams , to see that star and think, “Oh my God, my name could be there one day.” Because it can,” he said. “What an amazing 20 years and I look forward to the next 20! Let’s go!”.
