Jennifer Lawrence: ‘I Wondered If I’d Love My Son Like My Cat’

by

I remember walking with one of my best friends at about nine months and I said “everyone keeps saying I’m going to love my baby more than my cat. But that’s not true. Maybe I’ll love him as much as my cat?”

The “Hunger Games” actress and Cooke Maroney welcomed their first child together in February 2022 after tying the knot in 2019.

Seven months later, fans finally have new news about the newborn, as Vogue confirmed that she gave birth to a boy, and the name is Cy.

The child is named after Cy Thombly, a painter whom Maroney, who is an art gallery manager, considers one of his favorites.

“It’s so scary to talk about motherhood. Just because it’s so different for everyone. If I say, ‘It was amazing from the beginning,’ some people will think it wasn’t amazing for them at the beginning and feel bad,” he told the publication.

“Luckily I have so many girlfriends who were honest. I’ve been told it’s scary. That you may not connect immediately. You may not immediately fall in love with the child. So I felt so prepared to forgive myself. I remember walking with one of my best friends at about nine months and I said “everyone keeps saying I’m going to love my baby more than my cat. But that’s not true. Will I love him as much as my cat?”

That worry ended after the birth though, with her saying that the morning after she welcomed Cy, she felt like her “whole life had started all over again” because she was “so in love”. That love spread to “all the babies everywhere,” she added.
