Anitta is cut out of a photo with fellow Americans, and fans complain: ‘Xenophobia?’

by

Fans of Anitta, 28, didn’t like the photo that American singer Tinashe, 28, chose to open an album about the Variety magazine event that brought together the cream of the music industry during last weekend in Los Angeles. That’s because the Brazilian was digitally removed from the image.

Originally, the photo showed, from left to right, singers Chlöe Bailey, Anitta, Normani and Tinashe. However, an internet user thought that the Brazilian was left over and decided to change the image. “I need to do something fast,” he joked in the caption when republishing the photo.

Tinhashe enjoyed the montage so much that he decided to publish it as well. It is worth mentioning that the original photo, with Anitta, was also published. However, she appears last in the photo album, behind two other images.

It was enough for the fans of the Brazilian to feel uncomfortable. “Why did you just remove the greatest singer?”, one of them complained, showing with Spotify data that Anitta is more listened to than her colleagues.

There was also, of course, left for the internet user who edited the image. “I had to be a fan of Normani doing that. They hate Anitta, I don’t know why,” said one netizen. “Wasn’t that xenophobia?” asked another, noting that the Brazilian was the only non-American in the image.
