Queen Elizabeth’s Former Security Remembers When She Wasn’t Recognized In Park

by

Symbol of the monarchy around the world, Queen Elizabeth II, who for seven decades held the British throne and died this Thursday (8), at the age of 96, has already gone unnoticed in public. That’s what Richard Griffin, her former security guard, told Sky News during an interview. The video of this rather unusual story went viral on social media.

In it, he tells about the day he went out alone with the queen for a picnic in a park. That same day, two Americans stopped to talk, but they didn’t recognize the monarch, which created a funny situation.

With a lot of humor, Elizabeth made a point of not mentioning who she was after the two boys, who were on vacation in Balmoral, Scotland, didn’t realize who they were talking to. “One of them turned around and asked, ‘Where do you live?’, to which she promptly replied, ‘In London, but I have a holiday home on the other side of the hill,’ she said with a laugh.

In the sequel, the queen’s former security agent told how this story continued after one of the Americans was surprised by how often that lady walked in the park: “80 years”.

It was then that he asked the queen herself if she had met the queen of England in so long. “I haven’t met him, but Dick [apelido de Griffin] here you always meet her”, Elizabeth shot without losing her composure.

It was then that both asked the monarch to take a picture of them with Richard Griffin. Afterwards, they also wanted a photo with the lady. The security guard ends the interview saying what was her reaction after saying goodbye to her new friends. “She said, ‘I wish I was a little mosquito to see him show this picture to his friends in the US. I hope someone tells him who I am.”
