This year marks thirty-five years since its operation “Athens 9.84” and the Municipality of Athens celebrates the birthday of the city’s iconic radio station with a big concertdedicated to Manos Loizos – 40 years after his death.
Two great singers, the Maria Farandouri and the Dimitra Galani they will meet next day Friday, September 16 on her stage Technopolis together with 30 more artists of the younger generation to interpret the songs and work of the important Greek composer, who was loved like few others in the history of Greek song.
“35 years ago, Athens 9.84 contributed to the formation of free Greek radio. Today, the city’s flagship station continues to set the bar high in both information and entertainment, staffed by people who know quality radio well and love it deeply. The anniversary concert for the great composer Mano Loizo is the most appropriate way to celebrate the birthday of the city’s radio station. We invite Athenians to come to Technopolis and attend this special autumn concert, in which we have the pleasure of hosting leading Greek artists”. states in his statement Mayor of Athens, Kostas Bakoyannis.
On the day of the concert, the project Manos Loizos – META will be released for the first time, which is the recording of the songs that will be heard at this celebration, with the participation of more than 35 artists of the new generation.
It is noted that part of the proceeds of the concert will be allocated for the needs of the Reception and Solidarity Center of the Municipality of Athens (K.Y.A.D.A.).
