Singer R. Kelly is convicted of child pornography and child abuse

by

R&B artist R. Kelly, 55, who had previously been sentenced to 30 years in prison for other sex crimes, has been convicted again, this time in a US federal court, of child pornography and sexual abuse of minors. The sentence has not yet been established, but according to TMZ, it could reach 90 years.

A video of him urinating on a 14-year-old girl was shown in court and served as evidence. The victim testified against him. Two more videos of him abusing women were revealed in court, and the jury ruled that the American singer should be found guilty. His attorney, Jennifer Bonjean, told the jury that he was “imperfect” but innocent.

The musician’s trial has already featured impressive testimonies such as that of a former goddaughter who claimed to have had sex “hundreds of times” with the singer before turning 18. She is currently 37 years old and uses the pseudonym Jane. The woman said she couldn’t say no because she was too intimidated at the time.

In September 2021, Kelly was convicted of sex trafficking, in a jury that took place in Brooklyn federal court for five and a half weeks. Jurors deliberated for just over a day before voting to convict on all counts.
