In the port of Cenchrea, the Apostle Pavlos also disembarked, in 53 AD. on his first trip to the city of Corinth.
THE Corinth was one of the few Greek cities that had 2 ports, the Lechaio in the Gulf of Corinth and the Governments in Saronic.
His sons Neptune and of Pirine, daughter of the river god Achelous, Lechi and Ceghriasgave their names to the city’s ports.
It was the 2nd port – harbor of Ancient Corinth, where innovative methods of construction of port facilities were also applied. And in this there were two divisions, the commercial and the military.

This port was partly naturalas it had northern and southern capes, and partly artificial, since in the extension of the capes two breakwaters were built – horseshoe-like piers, about 30m high from the seabed, which created a large port basin, leaving an entrance 120m wide.
The greatest width of the port was 280m and the greatest distance from the central pier to the breakwaters of the entrance 210-215m.
In the area, there was simultaneous subsidence of the land and elevation of the sea, with the result that the Roman buildings are at sea level, while the archaic and classical ones are below it.
At the port of Kenchrea, he also disembarked saint Paul, in 53 AD on his first trip to the city of Corinth. Extensive archaeological excavations have been carried out in the port and have revealed a wealth of information and many finds, with a rarer series of stained glass panels (precursors of today’s stained glass), kept in the Museum of Isthmia.
