Many fans have theorized and many outlets have floated names, but DC Comics has never officially given the character a real name, until now.
Ever since he debuted in the DC Universe, the true identity of “The Joker” has been a mystery to all comic book fans.
Many fans have theorized and many media outlets have floated names such as Jack Napier and Arthur Fleck, but DC Comics has never officially given the character a real name, until now.
In issue #5 of the “Flashpoint Beyond” comic series, a sequel to “Flashpoint”, Martha Wayne and Thomas Wayne are seen debating the true identity of the villain.
Martha reveals that she forced the Psycho-Pirate, a villain with extensive knowledge of the entire DC Universe, to tell her the name of “The Joker”.
It is then revealed that ‘Joker’s’ real name is ‘Jack Oswald White».
Martha states that she visited the Flashpoint world’s version of “Jack Oswald White” and discovered that he is a struggling family man trying to support his wife and child by working as a bouncer at the Wayne Casino.
Despite being destitute, Jack is well balanced and did not experience the tragic events that occurred in ‘Batman: The Killing Joke’ that created ‘The Joker’.
It is also interesting that musician Jack White was the inspiration for the character’s name.
The singer in his post on Instagram thanked DC Comics for giving “Joker” his name, “Jack White”. “Even though his hair isn’t usually as blue as mine, I still take it as a flattering gesture on their part and consider it an honor.
It has been a lonely journey in my life being the only person with that name until now. Jack White III,” the post reads.
