The police neuropsychologist Mont Christopher she lives alone, isolated in the hills of Los Angeles. Lately, she has been obsessed, to the point of obsession, with an unprecedented, inscrutable case that she has undertaken.

A paranoid man, unidentified, carries out serial attacks on the unsuspecting women of the town, in a way that is terrifyingly paradoxical. He doesn’t kill them. He’s not in a hurry. He seduces his victims, leads them voluntarily to bed and finally immobilizes them with a lobotomy. Turning them into his eternal, useless toys.

Maud is confronted with the brutality of these crimes almost daily. She is the one who has taken care of his victims.

On an otherwise quiet evening, a likeable young man knocks on her door, asking for some help, as he’s stranded at her place because his bike broke down.

Author’s note

If there’s one thing this play is about, it’s our infinite ability to manipulate one another, our exquisite gift of lying. It is our ability to believe any truth that suits us. It is our automatic power to forgive; our need to move on. It is compromise, our willingness to side with our executor. It is our moral anarchy, the loss of our instincts and our inner beliefs about our existence. It is our ability to unthinkingly absorb terror; to believe that a crime is only really a crime when it happens to us – nothing else makes us angry. It is about our horrible crimes: not that they happen, but that we get used to them and move on.
