Daphne Barak’s production studio Halcyon recently bought the rights to the book “Saving Amy”for her life Amy Winehousewhich was a huge box-office success and will reportedly be adapted into an eight-episode series.
More specifically, the new TV series will highlight, among other things, the singer’s relationships with her family and her father, as well as her talent. Through the episodes of the series, her battle with drug addiction will also be shown.
Halcyon Studio CEO David Elender said: “Although her career was cut too soon, Amy was the voice of a generation and we look forward to telling her story in the most heartbreaking way possible.”
It is also noted that a film is being prepared directed by Sam Taylor Johnson about the English singer and composer, which will be called “Back to Black” and is based on Saving Amy, however, it is unclear if the two projects are connected.
Amy Winehouse died in 2011, aged just 27, from an overdose of alcohol after a period of rehab and had also used heroin.
