Drymona Waterfalls: A true oasis of coolness in the gloomy reality of North Evia – Watch video

Drymona waterfalls are located in North Evia, just 4 kilometers from the monastery of Saint David, between the villages of Kerasia and Drymona, at an altitude of 620 meters.

Their waters are a part of the river Sepia, which forms in Xiro Oros and flows into the Euboean Gulf. The magical sight they present falls from a height of 15 meters, creating a small crystal pond at its base, an ideal habitat for small animals, amphibians, reptiles and of course insects.

There are two versions of how the area got its name. Either from the severe cold that prevails during the winter months in the area, or from the dense oak forest (oak trees) that surrounds it. The truth, of course, after the fires that broke out last summer in northern Evia, is that this dense forest, unfortunately, has now disappeared. But the waters of the falls, which still continue to fall, are a small oasis in the gloomy reality that was imposed…

All the rare species of trees that were once part of this location with their inexhaustible natural beauty, such as Black Pine, Fraxinos o ornos or Melios, Aleppo Pine etc. they have now burned, creating a huge void in the whole image of the falls.
