The lesser known skincare ingredients that can be the key to perfect skin

by

We often write analyzing the benefits of favorite ingredients in the treatment and their combinations. From hyaluronic acid for hydration, retinol for anti-aging and salicylic acid for exfoliation, you probably know and use them.

These ingredients have become popular for a reason. Because they are effective for a large number of people. Thus, they are now available in an increasing variety of products.

However, there are so many skin care ingredients that, although as powerful as the all-star ingredients above, remain more unknown.

Mandelic acid
When it comes to chemical exfoliators, there are two main categories. The α-hydroxy acids (or AHAs) that remove dead skin cells from the top layer of your skin, and the β-hydroxy acids (or BHAs), which cross the surface of the skin to remove accumulated dirt and oil from resources. Thus, AHAs usually work best to treat wrinkles and sun damage. At the same time, BHAs are more suitable for treating acne.

An increasingly popular AHA, mandelic acid does little to both. This is why it can improve the skin both superficially and in depth.

Derived from bitter almonds, mandelic acid has been used for years as an antibacterial drug. Recently, it has been added to topical skin care products to treat a variety of problems. Provides exfoliating action, helping to treat wrinkles and sun damage. It can also work similarly to salicylic acid. Although it can not penetrate as deeply into the pores, it provides enough exfoliating action to cleanse them.

Asian acid (centella asiatica)
Centella Asiatica (often referred to as “cica”) is an herb rich in antioxidants. In fact, it has its roots in traditional Chinese and Ayurvedic medicine. Asian acid, one of its active ingredients, has become popular in modern skin care due to its anti-inflammatory and moisturizing properties. So, it is great for those who have dry, flaky skin. It also significantly improves skin hydration and reduces moisture loss.

It also speeds up wound healing and reduces inflammation. That’s why it benefits those who have acne, eczema or sensitive skin. Also, Asian acid has also been shown to increase collagen production and improve skin elasticity. Therefore, it can be an effective anti-aging treatment. For this purpose, use it in the eye area to help with fine lines and wrinkles.

Birch sap
A modern ingredient from Korea, birch sap resembles maple syrup. It has a sparse composition and contains amino acids, xylitol, enzymes, antioxidants, vitamins, minerals and proteins. On the skin, it is very moisturizing, enhances moisture retention and has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. So, it is ideal for irritated skin!

At the same time, it is rich in niacinamide, which improves skin tone and texture. It also contains vitamin C, a powerful antioxidant that enhances skin radiance and protects it from free radicals.

Colloidal oatmeal
You may know that oatmeal relieves itching, as it is very soothing. As a result of finely grinding and boiling the oats, the colloidal oatmeal is especially loved by those who experience intense dryness and irritation. Cleanses, moisturizes, regulates and soothes the skin. It also has a protective and anti-inflammatory effect. Although it can offer a hydrating boost to everyone, it is especially useful for those with dry skin and conditions such as eczema or psoriasis.

Snail mucin
Another treatment ingredient known from K-beauty is snail mycin, a secretion of snail. It is beneficial for the skin as it strengthens the skin barrier and locks in moisture. Its effective action on the skin is due, among other things, to the glycoproteins, hyaluronic and glycolic acid it contains.
