Alexandros Ardavanis and Rania Chrysomeri in the musical, poetic, theatrical repertoire “Internal Affairs”

Alexandros Ardavanis and Rania Chrysomeri invite you to the music-poetry-theatrical recital “Domestic Affairs” presented at the theater “KNOSSOS” (195 Patision & 11 Knossos) on Saturday, November 19 at 7:00 p.m.
The action is directed by Vangelis Varotsakis while it is accompanied visually by Dimitra Siaterli.

It is about for an attempt to meet poetry and music, a quasi-conversation of them in a single organic composition. The sharp poetic speech of Alexandros Ardavanis becomes a fertile motive field for musical design and a key response from the music composer Rania Chrysomeris. The mastery of the director Vangelis Varotsakis creates an intensely theatrical atmosphere where the musical sound and the poetic speech alternate in the foreground of the narrative, dramatizing a theatrical allegory that leads the viewer-listener to innermost psychic paths. The project of wandering takes forms and shapes through the images of Dimitra Tsiaterlis that lure the viewer-listener into the “dance” of the dialogues of Ego with the poet’s Alter Ego in the shallows of the Unconscious, as he himself describes it.

The production of this multi-layered work is accompanied by a CD edition containing their music and poetry “Internal Affairs”.

In such a prosaic era, strings with a baroque rhythm, andamas with old-fashioned poetry?
When in one of our countless phone “sessions” I heard Rania panting, I felt that the bet had been won. What bet? To combine some of my unfulfilled metered arias with the sounds of the strings. Those who accompany me in my wild dreams, since adolescence. Let the viola, the cello and the double bass converse on the carpet of strings and percussion, just as the Ego and the Alterego converse dancing from ball to pyrrhic on the worn carpet that covers the depths of my Unconscious. My words, an “Iconostasis of Obsolete Values” to echo with phrases of “old-fashioned” musical instruments that refuse to be outgrown. And he adds: I don’t know in which category “Internal Affairs” could be included. I would suggest that it is a relay of voices and strings with the percussion demarcating the passages from one version of the Word to the other. A combined narrative of poetry and music, based on an adaptation of the collection of poetic narratives entitled ‘eccentrics’.
