Jason Penrose, 49, had been stalking her for too long, even turning up at ‘The Crown’ star’s home on December 17 last year and repeatedly ringing the doorbell, the court was told on Monday, November 28, 2022.

Penrose sent more than 1,000 emails, including one about raping Foy and wanting her to be his girlfriend. He tried to contact the actress on LinkedIn and Instagram, while also contacting her sister via email and her ex-boyfriend via text.

Wearing a white shirt and brown hat, Penrose spoke only to confirm his name. He admitted that he was watching the actress.

Penrose was brought before Wood Green Crown Court for sentencing after the judge warned he faces a minimum of 30 months in prison.

The prosecutor said: “Ms Claire Foy was targeted by Mr Penrose with persistent, unwanted and obsessive behaviour, which was intrusive due to his delusional beliefs.”

This whole situation had “extreme effects on her life and peace of mind,” he said, adding the prosecutor. “She has trouble sleeping and is terrified in her own home.”

In a letter she wrote to the court, the actress said: “His relentless attempts to contact me are so traumatizing. Every time I think this is settled it isn’t. I feel there is nothing stopping him from contacting me. It has affected every aspect of my life.”

Penrose initially contacted Claire Foy through her agent, claiming to be a film producer. He had been receiving treatment at the Whittington Hospital in north London, but it emerged today that he is no longer doing so.

Judge David Aaronberg said one issue to be resolved was whether Penrose could be deported as he came to the UK illegally.
