Aiguille du midi: Gazing at the top of the Alps – Watch video

by

This is, perhaps, the location with the best view of the Alpine massif

The summit of the Aiguille du midi, in Chamonix, is undoubtedly one of the most famous and picturesque landscapes of the French Alps.

And to be more precise, the Aiguille du midi is a cluster of rocky peaks of the Alps, at an altitude of 3842 meters, overlooking the highest point of the mountain range, Mont Blanc.

Its name means needle and it is particularly known for its cable car, which was built in 1955 and for two decades held the record for the highest cable car in the world. However, even today it holds the record of vertical climbing from 1,035 to 3,842 meters, with extreme safety measures, depending on weather conditions, throughout the year.

Starting from Chamonix, located at an altitude of 1,035 meters, the cable car is divided into two sections. Its first stop is at 2,317 on the Plan de l’Aiguille, while the continuation ends at the summit, from where it “flies” over the glacier des Pèlerins, as well as the north face of the Aiguille, without any other support pillar at 3,777 meters. And most importantly, this very special route – climbing of 2,800 meters is done in less than 20 minutes… an unrepeatable experience…

The view from such a high altitude is truly magical, unimaginable. The peaks of the White Mountains seem to want to touch the sky, while the pure white color of the snow dominates everything that your eyes touch.
