Marcelo Adnet satirizes the famous at the World Cup in Qatar

Nothing escapes Marcelo Adnet’s humor at the World Cup in Qatar. With the painting Que Doha é Essa?, in Central da Copa (Globo), he makes jokes with the differences of the host of the Cup imitating famous people, like Galvão Bueno, Tite, King Charles 3rd, Gilberto Gil and Milton Cunha.

Adnet said that he watches the World Cup games to record the picture and decide what will be the subject of the day. According to him, it is not possible to predict what the agenda will be and everything that is recorded will be aired on the same day. “We have a team of scriptwriters and characterization, both for costumes and makeup, hair, beard, to make everything go and work”, explains the comedian.

In one of the episodes, he plays a character inspired by Globo’s Carnival commentator Milton Cunha in a program called Central do Estilo, analyzing the teams’ shirts. Adnet also gives life to King Charles – with his famous swollen hands – making fun of Prince William, after the defeat of the Wales team.

“The characters appear on the day. There was a recording, in which the main theme was the victory of Portugal 6×1 over Switzerland, and we made Luis Roberto Leal, who is the mixture of our announcer Luis Roberto with Roberto Leal, singer Portuguese”, explains about the imitation of the Portuguese character, last Tuesday (6).

To bring the countless characters to life, Adnet has the help of costume designer Alessandra Barrios and makeup artist Rubens Libório. The comedian has already worn uniforms from Globo’s collection, a Galvão Bueno necklace and borrowed team and team t-shirts from people on the program’s team. “We had a challenge with the swollen hand of the King [Charles]and for the “marry” costume, we rely on the hand made by art production”, said the costume designer.

Of all the characters that Adnet has already imitated, he said that his favorite is the reporter Eli Teral, who doesn’t imitate any famous person. The character makes literal stories taking advantage of what’s around, like the day he appears using bathroom accessories. “It is not a direct imitation of someone, it is the imitation of a type of journalistic article. And it is the greatest success”, stated the comedian.

Adnet also hopes that some imitations will please the honoree, such as that of sports narrator Cléber Machado. “I have the greatest admiration, I love Cléber. He is in the best phase. I love to imitate Cleber Machado, because he starts to think about things and goes to other places, far beyond what is happening on the field. I hope he is enjoying it also”.

In addition to the imitations on the board, the comedian also makes live appearances at Central da Copa and claims that he is having fun with the experience of playing another person live. “It’s pretty crazy. In any case, I think we’re in good shape for the Cup, on top of the game, also doing journalistic work, at the grassroots level, to finally get there at the top, which is the humor.”
