Striker Richarlison says he couldn’t sleep after the national team’s defeat to Croatia, on Friday (9), and that Brazil’s elimination from the World Cup was the hardest blow he has ever taken in his life.

“This is a wound that will stay open forever, because we all know the chances we had to get that title”, he said, in a publication on social networks this Saturday (10).

According to the player, saying that the Brazilian team did its best and that defeat is part of the sport does not ease the situation — on the contrary, the revolt.

“The real thing is that it seems that we lost someone very close, that they took a piece of us. And me and my friends are going to have to live with that”, wrote Richarlison on Instagram, noting that many of those called up for Qatar this year will not be able to play in the 2026 tournament.

“Now it’s time to lick my wounds, apologize to all of you and get my head straight. The reality is that football, which has given me everything I have, which has saved my life so many times, yesterday dealt me the biggest blow. strength I’ve ever received,” he continued.

“If there’s a boost in all of this, it’s seeing you guys cheering together again,” he said.

Richarlison was one of the most desolate players on Friday after the Brazilian team lost to Croatia on penalties. He even said he wanted to go into a hole and never show up again.

“I’m a player, but I’m a fan on the field. We created very high expectations, but unfortunately we failed”, he said at the time, in tears.
