The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced the shortlists in ten categories for the 2023 Oscars, which will form the final nominations for this year’s awards.
From the shortlists, the final nominations for this year’s Academy Awards will emerge in nine categories: Feature Documentary (15), Documentary Short (10), International Film (15), Makeup and Hairstyling (10), Sound (10) , Original Music (15), Original Song (15), Animated Short (10), Live Action Short (10) and Visual Effects (10).
“Magnetic Fields” by Giorgos Gousis, which was Greece’s official proposal in the International Film category, did not make it to the penultimate stage of the list.
In contrast, the German Netflix film All Quiet on the Western Front (the new adaptation of the 1929 novel “No Younger than the Western Front”) was selected in five categories: international film, makeup and hair, sound, visual effects and original score
All Quiet on the Western Front equals Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
Voting for the nominations will take place between January 12 and January 17, 2023. Nominations will be announced on January 24, 2023, with the final vote between March 2 and March 7, 2023.
The 95th Academy Awards will be held at the Dolby Theater on March 12 and will be broadcast by ABC.
