Musician Wesley Safadão had his jet, valued at around R$ 37 million, blocked by Justice this Thursday (22). The aircraft is part of a legal battle that started in October this year. At the time, Safadão claimed to have been the victim of a scam carried out by businessman Francisley Valdevino da Silva, known as Sheik of Bitcoins.
The singer says he received the plane as a guarantee of return on an investment made on behalf of his company, WS Shows. The Federal Police named Francisley as the leader of a fraud scheme that moved almost BRL 4 billion in the country, through financial pyramids and the sale of cryptocurrencies, such as bitcoin.
Sought by F5, Safadão’s advisors replied, in a note, that WS Shows “was surprised” with the decision that determined the jet’s blockade. The statement also says that the singer’s company partners believed that the investment would be “a good business opportunity”, but as soon as they identified the weaknesses, “they ran after undoing everything” to minimize the losses.
According to Safadão’s company, the singer had made investments with the scammer and received the aircraft as a guarantee of payment, through financing made by Banco do Brasil S/A. The plane is registered in the name of ITX Administração de Bens Ltda, from Francisley. But it was operated by WS Shows. The blockade happened due to a lawsuit filed by a group of around one hundred businessmen who were injured by the Sheik of bitcoins and are now trying to recover their investments.
Justice then determined that assets linked to Francisley, the Sheik, be seized – when an asset is preventively blocked for payment of debts. The press office of the singer’s company also states that he is “another victim of this operation”.
