When we remember the Brazilian version of “Carrossel” (SBT), the face of Jean Paulo Campos, 19, soon comes to mind. The artist gained the spotlight by playing the long-suffering Cirilo, his most striking character — so far — in his 12-year career. Now, the actor wants to show other facets when he plays his first role outside Silvio Santos’ channel. He is scheduled for “Vai na Fé”, the next plot at 7 pm on Globo.
“My trip to Globo came from a test for another project that I did earlier at the house, ‘Musa Música’, and while the recordings of that series were rolling, I did some tests for the soap opera and passed. big for me”, he highlights in a chat with the F5.
His character is Yuri, a shy young man when it comes to relationships and who will experience moral dilemmas in his student political life at an elite white college. The role has some similarities with what marked his career, when he played the naive little boy who was ridiculed and despised at school by Maria Joaquina (Larissa Manoela) on the SBT plot. But anyone who thinks that the fame of “eternal Cyril” bothers him is wrong.
“Many people recognize me for him, and I don’t see a problem with that, because he made a lot of difference and is certainly a source of pride. Other characters appear. I believe that this [de fazer o público esquecer o Cirilo] works in a more natural way than it seems”, reinforces.
His arrival at Globo comes five years after a controversial departure from SBT. Success on the station, Campos was fired in 2017, which at the time generated “sadness and surprise” from the young artist’s parents. For Jean, this subject was never taboo. “I didn’t have any regrets about SBT, on the contrary, I will always be very grateful for the space and learning that the channel made available to me. Cycles begin and close so that others can begin, and that’s how we grow.”
Despite not acting in the same plot, Jean Paulo Campos and Larissa Manoela are now part of the same broadcaster – the actor’s contract, for now, is only for this project. Both are friends until today, which generates in Jean the desire for a new partnership. “Her presence on my visit to Globo was extremely important due to the fact that she had already experienced what I was beginning to experience at the station and even in life in Rio de Janeiro. that it would be a great experience to work with her again”, envisions the actor.
