The Civil Police of Minas Gerais will investigate whether comedian Gustavo Mendes, 33, famous for imitating former president Dilma Rousseff, lied in his testimony about an alleged robbery attempt he would have suffered in Juiz de Fora (MG). He ended up taking stone blows to the face and head on occasion.
However, according to the police, the version about the robbery was discarded and it was concluded that what happened was a bodily injury. From this, the authorities want to investigate whether the comedian acted in bad faith in his testimony.
“If it is proven that the victim lied intentionally, claiming that he had been assaulted, he may be liable for the crime of slanderous denunciation or false communication of a crime, but the investigations continue”, says police chief Daniel Buchmuller. The suspect in the attack has been identified.
Upset with the conclusion of the case, Mendes resorted to social networks to explain himself. In an official note, he reinforced that the man who attacked him had his hand under his shirt to simulate a gun and that after he realized that it was not a revolver, he went at him, but ended up getting stoned.
In another video, the comedian gave more details of his version. “I was attacked with two stones to kill. And now, according to the police chief, it wasn’t theft, it was just aggression. Of course there was aggression, I can’t work because I’m like this. What was it? Putting my version in check and invalidating it? I’m afraid of the extremist crowd”, said the comedian in a video.
