Regina Duarte criticizes the Rouanet Law and says that regulation is ‘distorted by the millionaire left’

Two days after the controversy involving Claudia Raia, who got authorization to raise a little over R$ 5 million for a musical through the Culture Incentive Law, the Rouanet Law, Regina Duarte spoke out against the decision. The actress asked for a “less elitist” regulation and even insinuated that only “big names” get funds to produce “spectacles with public money.”

“I say yes to a reformed and much less elitist Rouanet Law. No more big companies failing to pay taxes to use that money in advertising with ‘big names’. These are shows produced with public money. Down with the elitist Rouanet Law, all misrepresented by the millionaire left”, complained the former Secretary of Culture of the Bolsonaro government.

Regina reposted the publication of an extreme-right profile in which she criticized the fact that Claudia Raia had received funding through the Rouanet Law to make a musical. According to the website of the Ministry of Culture, the project was only approved but fundraising has not yet started.

In July 2022, the company “A Vida é Sonho Produções Artísticas Ltda.”, which has the actress as a managing partner, was ordered to return BRL 319,600 obtained through the National Cultural Incentive Program (Pronac) , instituted by the Rouanet Law. The bills for the “Coração Bazar” project, promoted by the company, which was supposed to carry out the “assembly and presentations of the theatrical show ‘Ana Jansen’, by Lenita de Sá, adapted by Lauro César Muniz”, were rejected in 2018.
