Leandro Lehart turns 51 and vents: ‘Silence is the most important weapon’

by

Singer Leandro Lehart turned 51 this Wednesday (25) and gathered some friends at a party in the Jardim São Bento neighborhood, north of São Paulo. The lead singer of Art Popular shared some moments of the celebration, when he even gave a speech in thanks for the presence of friends and family. Lehart avoided mentioning a woman’s rape and false imprisonment conviction directly, but spoke of the “wickedness of people” and the power of forgiveness.

The bad people who got in our way, we must forgive. Do this always, always. At some point in life, you will feel hate, you will want to scream, but after a while you begin to realize that silence is the most important weapon that God can give you”, he began.

In September last year, Leandro was convicted of rape and false imprisonment against a woman in October 2019. The sentence was nine years and seven months and provided for a closed initial regime, but the judge decided that the singer could appeal freely. The defense of the leader of the Art Popular group appeals against the sentence of the Justice of São Paulo.

The singer has always denied violence against Rita de Cássia Corrêa. She claimed to have suffered grotesque abuse and had her life destroyed. They met in 2017 and were in a relationship for two years. “I am being the victim of a great injustice, but the truth will prevail soon”, said Leandro through a statement released at the time the episode became public and also gained great repercussions in September 2022.

Finally, Lehart announced at the party that he had forgiven all the wrongs done to him. “Over the past few months, several times I’ve knelt in my room alone, just so I could get to this moment, at my 51 years of age, and say: I’m ready to move on. All the bad things that have been done in recent times, I I forgave them.”
