Gisele Bündchen, 42, has spoken out about the retirement of her ex-husband Tom Brady, 45, from the NFL, a professional American football league. This Thursday (1), he made a video announcing his retirement from the sport and published several photos with the model.
“I wish you only wonderful things in this new chapter of your life”, commented Gisele in Brady’s publication. The model and the now ex-player were married for 13 years and have two children together: Benjamin Rein, 12, and Vivian Lake, 9.
The announcement comes exactly one year after he announced the end of his career as a quarterback with the New York Giants, but turned back 40 days later to play another season for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Rumors indicate that this would be the reason for the couple’s separation.
“When I woke up this morning I realized I should just hit the record button and let you guys know first. I won’t be verbose. You only have one emotional essay about retirement and I had mine last year. So I just wanted to say a big thank you to each and every one of you for supporting me,” the player said in the post.
Along with the recording, Tom posted photos of key career moments. In three of the records the Brazilian is present. In the comments, celebrities and athletes spoke and thanked Tom for his talent.
David Beckham wrote “we love you man” accompanied by a heart emoji. American actor Hugh Jackman said the star had had a sensational career, “to say the least”. Tennis star Serena Williams, who also retired from the courts in August last year, said she was thrilled and teased the star about her retirement.
“Getting teary eyed watching this. Sad to see you go. Welcome to the world of retirement….again,” he wrote.
Actress Kate Hudson said it was an honor to follow the player’s career. “You have brought us so much joy over so many years. Welcome to the next chapter, may it bring as many blessings as the last two decades have.”
