BBB 23: Fear of Key Alves with the death of Michael Jackson is not uncommon, explains psychologist

by

It was Key Alves who ran under the duvet and confessed to the BBB 23 brothers, in tears, that he saw the reflection of the singer Michael Jackson, who died in 2009, in the mirror, which internet users have already guaranteed the unusual moment of the day. The participants were surprised by the comment and did not hide their laughter, despite the sister’s tears.

Outside the house, viewers also found Key’s fear somewhat different and rushed to make memes and jokes with her and the singer. However, some netizens shared that they are going through the same situation as the volleyball player and, to this day, they cannot even see photos of the star.

In psychology, this fear has a name and is called phobia. The term means an irrational fear of anything that generates anxiety in someone. According to Vanessa Gebrim, a psychologist with experience in supportive therapy, it is recommended that the participant rely on the psychological support available within the reality show. If the “vision” recurs, she may turn to breathing and relaxation exercises to control her anxiety.

“There are people who have what is called a specific phobia and they avoid certain situations. The individual may have internalized some events in his life in a negative way”, she says, giving as an example those who do not like needles or clowns.

These emotions can then be associated with a bad experience. In her case, fear of death—or some similar event. “She may be relating this, in this case, the death of Michael Jackson, to some traumatic life experience. That is why it is important to understand the root of it, which may be linked to a symbology of death”, she clarifies.

Even if her fear is not common, the psychologist warns that it is important to be taken seriously, since everyone carries a certain concern about something. “Fear is an emotion resulting from our self-preservation. Since childhood we learn that some things are dangerous and, over time, we create our own fears, which come from experiences and experiences”, she says.

“But this is treatable, there are many fears and each one has their own, which may or may not be more common”, adds Gebrim.
