The actor expressed his admiration for the criminal geniuses behind the ‘greatest heists in history’
Actor Pierce Brosnan is the host of a new series on the History Channel called “History’s Greatest Heists,” which focuses on the “greatest heists of all time,” including the infamous 1990 art heist from the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston, USA .
The actor, who played Agent 007 in James Bond films, in an interview with Channel Guide magazine mentioned the series and expressed his admiration for the criminal geniuses behind the “greatest heists in history”.
“We like to see people breaking the law, trying to steal things, trying to steal money,” Pierce Brosnan said, adding: “Some of these guys were just crazy and extraordinary cases. It takes guts to go out there and do what they did.”
“They’re frauds,” he explained at another point in the interview, citing the reasons why fictional and real stories like the show’s continue to be so compelling to audiences.
“They’re very charming men, a lot of these guys. … They know how to behave. They know how to treat people. They know the psychology of the world. When you have a person like that who’s charismatic and also breaks the law and does something that’s really out of bounds… movies have elements like that,” he said.
The eight-episode series “History’s Greatest Heists” reveals the meticulous planning, daring execution and shocking consequences of characters who pulled off some of the most elaborate heists in history including the infamous 1978 Lufthansa heist at New York’s JFK Airport, with the perpetrators to make off with approximately $24 million worth of cash and jewelry.
