Despite the elimination of Tina Calamba from BBB 23, on Tuesday (7), Taís Araújo pointed out that the participation of black women in the latest editions of the reality show has increased—and stressed that this brings “wealth” to the program.
“A few years ago, black people and especially black women on #BBB were a rarity. Due to the strength of exposure, these few women ended up carrying with them the responsibility of representing all. What a difficult role, we are so many, so different. There is no way, it doesn’t make sense,” he began.
“And then something changed. The last editions have been attended by a slightly larger variety of black women, which brings richness to the program, after all, each one there has its personality, its origin, its beauty”, he wrote.
“Although this amount cannot handle the dimension that is the multiplicity of our blackness, having more of us in these spaces makes it more plural and gradually shows that there are many of us, she said. The video shared by Taís shows, in addition to Tina, scenes and speeches by Domitila Barros, Aline Wirley, Marvvila and Paula Freitas.
Boninho, the director of the BBB, shared the same video and thanked the team for the changes. “In these 20 years we’ve changed a lot, we’ve learned a lot. All this to say that the BBB is more than a reality show! We’re braiding stories. It’s a pleasure to see the work of this incredible team! Congratulations team”, he wrote.
