In recent days, a video of Adriane Galisteu, 49, during a rehearsal for Carnival 2023 at Marquês de Sapucaí, in Rio de Janeiro, went viral. Criticisms rained down on the presenter of A Fazenda (Record), saying that she would not have samba on her foot – soon she, who reigned at the head of the Portela batteries (for seven years), Acadêmicos da Rocinha (three) and Unidos da Tijuca (five).
This time, she is getting ready for a Carnival that is different from those others, which, in her words, “were unforgettable”. “I’m going to have fun, without pressure, the queen is Bianca Monteiro”, she celebrates in an interview with F5days before the images began to circulate.
Galisteu, who will also be queen of Camarote Allegria (she replaces Deborah Secco in the position), says that he noticed, yes, that not everything is as before. “In my day, I used to rehearse in shorts, sneakers and a school T-shirt. Now, in rehearsal, everything is more exuberant, grandiose. Everything is much bigger, more powerful. I felt a huge difference”, says the sambodrome veteran.
Her return to Rio Carnival will be at the school where she reigned for the longest time, in a parade on the ground, along with other former queens and outstanding personalities in the 100 years of Portela. Her last show had been in 2016, and the invitation to return took her by surprise.
“I was on vacation and I didn’t take a lipstick, I really wanted a vacation, without thinking about the look, makeup, nothing”, she says. “Then the phone rings, it’s Bianca, calling me, with the president, to participate in the centenary parade. I thought: ‘My God, how can I say no to something I love so much?’ Look, I even got goosebumps,” she says, showing the hairs on her arm standing on end.
Another novelty this year will be the presence of Vittorio, 12, the presenter’s son with businessman Alexandre Iódice, who will make his debut at Sapucaí — which, according to Adriana, is the realization of a dream for both of them. “He always told me, ‘I want to go, I want to go, take me,'” she recalls. “And I would answer: ‘Calm down, the time will come'”.
For the time has come. “It’s going to be really cute. Vittorio is ‘thinking himself’, he’s going to come in a white suit from the board, by my side”, cheers Adriane, who gets excited when talking about the party. “I always say: you can’t die without knowing carnival. You can’t. You might not like it, you might have your questions, but you can’t die without having that emotion, without experiencing it”.
