Britain: The director of the film “Roads of Fire”, Hugh Hudson, died

Hugh Hudson became famous with the Oscar-winning masterpiece “Roads of Fire” whose music was composed by Vangelis Papathanasiou.

The British director passed away today at the age of 86 Hugh Hudsonwho rose to fame with the Oscar-winning masterpiece Chariots of Fire.

Hudson breathed his last in a London hospital, where he was being treated for a recent health adventure, his family announced.

Before moving into film, Hudson directed television commercials in the late 1960s. In the early 1970s, he directed a documentary about Argentine Juan Manuel Fangio, a legendary Formula 1 racing driver.

Trails of Fire, the story of British runners competing in the 1924 Olympics, swept the Oscars in 1981 – including Best Picture and Best Score, written by Vangelis Papathanasiou.
