Italy: Performance dedicated to Erotokritos who conquered the Bologna audience

A special show dedicated to Erotokritos arrived from Sitia in Crete to Bologna and conquered the Italian audience. It is a performance directed by Nikos Zagotis, orchestrated and composed by Giorgos Fournarakis and produced by the Friends of Music Association of Sitia.

Thanks to the proposal and decisive help of the honorary consul of Greece in Bologna, Georgia Lambrakis, this successful show, after the various regions of Crete and the whole of Greece, started a new journey, this time in Europe, with the help of Vincenzo Cornaro’s house.

It is a show based on a marriage of speech and music, with the participation of artists who, primarily, live and work in the wider area of ​​Sitia. In the second section of the show, a classical ballet performance of the Bologna dance schools, based on William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, was presented. The title of the entire show, made possible thanks to a truly fruitful Italian-Greek collaboration, was “Due Storie d’Amore”, (Two Love Stories).

The reaction of the Italian audience, at the Celebrazioni theater in Bologna, was enthusiastic. “It was also an essential, fruitful contact between two huge cultures. Princess Arethousa arrived in Italy and managed to meet Juliet”, highlighted Ms. Lambrakis with satisfaction. The performance was also attended by the ambassador of Greece in Italy, Eleni Sourani.

This artistic event, at the same time, was an opportunity for the mayor of Sitia Giorgos Zervakis, the deputy regional governor of Crete Giorgos Alexakis and the mayor of Agios Nikolaos Antonis Zervo – to meet with the deputy regional governor of the Bologna region, responsible for European affairs, with whom they discussed proposals for series of future, joint actions.
