F5 Award: ‘Pifaizer’ video is best meme of 2021; see bigger breath

The comedian Esse Menino made Brazil laugh at a very complicated situation the country went through in 2021. Amid the pandemic and the delayed Covid-19 vaccination, he amused the Brazilian with a video that simulated the negotiations for the purchase of Pfizer vaccine — or Pifaizer, as he called it.

It was so successful that the joke with the pharmaceutical company, ignored by the Brazilian government for months, was elected the best meme of 2021 in the F5 Award, with 39% of the 23,817 votes cast. It was almost double that achieved by the second place, Fiuk’s game with zero beats at BBB 21 (20%).

Voting began on November 16th and ran until December 6th. The internet user could vote as many times as they wanted for the F5, Folha’s entertainment website. In some categories, there were campaigns by competitors and collective efforts by fan clubs, which boosted the dispute. Among the rookie categories of the year are best entertainment podcast and best streaming service.

In addition to the jokes by Pfizer and Fiuk at BBB 21, the jargon “Lumena não autorizado” (Lumena didn’t authorize) was also in the competition for the F5 Award, born in the same reality TV show on Globo, in reference to the authoritarianism of competitor Lumena Aleluia. The meme ended up with 19% of the votes in the category.

Behind him was the hilarious scene starring Narcisa Tamborindeguy in a live with Maitê Proença. Although the audience could see and hear the actress very well, the socialite believed that she had the transmission blocked, and started talking to herself on video. The gaffe won 18% of the votes.

The term “cringe” was found in the most popular meme usher of the year, discovered only now by many adults, but already used by younger people to describe things or people they considered shameful. The joke, which came out of teen circles, took 4% of the votes in the F5 Awards.

CHAT OF THE YEAR

In addition to the memes, the famous puffs also made news and mobilized fans this year. Among many direct and indirect ones, the F5 Prize for the biggest breath went to actresses Samantha Schmütz and Juliana Paes, who fell out when talking about politics, pandemics and about president Jair Bolsonaro.

The needling between the two won 41% of the votes, surpassing the 24% achieved by the breath that was the anticipated goodbye of Fausto Silva do Domingão do Faustão (Globo), without even being able to say goodbye to his audience.

They were also in the dispute for the year’s most striking blows: Karol Conká’s “cancellation” at BBB 21 (18%), Yasmin Brunet’s disagreement with her husband’s family, surfer Gabriel Medina (9%), and the alleged Pyong Lee’s betrayal with Antonela Avellaneda during Record Island (7%).
