Maria Antonieta de las Nieves, Chiquinha, is with Covid

Maria Antonieta de las Nieves, 71, Chiquinha on the Mexican series Chaves, revealed on social media that she tested positive for Covid, this Thursday (30th). She has reassured fans that she is at home and getting better every day.

“Dear fans, friends and family: Despite all the care I always took not to get Covid-19, I tested positive when taking the exam. I feel good, I’m at home, I’m very calm and getting better every day”, she wrote in the Instagram.

She took the opportunity to deny rumors that she is in serious condition and wished her a happy new year. “It seems that I just had a common cold, nothing serious like they are publishing around. I take this opportunity to wish everyone a happy 2022.”

On November 10th, it was announced that the actress has entered the Guinness Book, the book of world records for having the longest acting career in the same child role. He recognized the Mexican for having played Chiquinha between June 20, 1971 and March 6, 2020.

“Chiquinha is a highly recognized character in several countries in Latin America and around the world. The experience and extensive trajectory are unquestionable, since, for decades, generations after generations grew up and enjoyed her character”, said Carlos Tapia, from Guinness Book.

The actress expressed satisfaction with the recognition on her social networks. “Thanks to my Chiquinha, I have this wonderful recognition that fills me with joy and satisfaction,” said María Antonieta de las Nieves in a video posted on her Instagram profile.

The character is one of the most beloved and remembered of the Mexican series, which initially aired between February 26, 1973 and January 7, 1980 and which continued to be shown over the years by television channels throughout Latin America until a dispute for rights to end its broadcasts in 2020.

Although the series was interrupted, the actress continued to play the character and went on a “farewell tour” through Latin America.
