The actors Ralph Fiennes and Juliette Binos are working together again in an ambitious Italy-Greece-UK-France co-production, entitled “The Return”by Umberto Pasolini.

According to “Deadline”, the independent American company Bleecker Street acquired the distribution rights in North America and is expected in theaters in 2024. Based on Homer’s Odyssey, the script of the film is co-written with the director, Edward Bond, and John Colley.

The story follows the return of Odysseus (Fiennes) to Ithaca, after 20 years, dejected and unrecognizable. According to the synopsis a lot has changed in his kingdom. His beloved wife Penelope (Binos) is now imprisoned in her own home, pursued by ambitious suitors while their son Telemachus faces death at the hands of the suitors, who see him as an obstacle in their relentless pursuit of Penelope and the kingdom. So Odysseus is forced to face his past in order to regain the strength he needs to save his family. Charlie Plummer in the role of Telemachus.

Filming will begin in the spring in Corfu and the Peloponnese and will continue in Italy.
