British actress, Judi Denchaddressed the problems she faces due to her failing eyesight, revealing that it has become “impossible” for her to read scripts.

Years ago, the award-winning actress revealed that she had AMD (age-related macular degeneration), a common condition that usually occurs in people after the ages of 50 and 60 and affects vision.

AMD does not cause total blindness, but it can make reading and recognizing faces difficult.

Last October, the 88-year-old Belfast star said the situation was “quite difficult” and admitted she “can’t see”.

Now, during an appearance on “The Graham Norton Show,” Judi Dench said it’s “impossible” to read the movie scripts she’s handed. “Because I have a photographic memory, I need to find a machine that will not only teach me my words, but also tell me where they appear on the page,” he explained.

“It is very easy for me to learn the words and remember them. I could do the whole of ‘Twelfth Night’ right now,” he noted.

In 2019, Judi Dench said she had to stop driving because of her eyesight, stressing that it was “one of the most traumatic moments” of her life, according to a report in “The Independent”.

When asked if she plans to retire from acting, the actress said: “I don’t want to retire”.

Dench recently starred in the 2022 drama Allelujah, an adaptation of Alan Bennett’s 2018 play of the same name. The film tells the story of a local community fighting to prevent the closure of an elderly ward at a small Yorkshire hospital.
