The famous actress, Emma Thompson, has been married for 20 years to her second husband, Greg Wise. Despite their marital bliss, however, the actress has described romantic love as a myth.

The 63-year-old actress, who met Wise, 56, on the set of ‘Sense And Sensibility’ in 1995, said people should think logically about love.

“It is philosophically useful and refreshing to remember that romantic love is a myth and quite a dangerous one,” she told the Radio Times.

“Thinking logically about love and how it can develop is essential. Long-term relationships are extremely difficult and complicated. If anyone thinks that ‘happily ever after’ has a place in our lives, forget it.”

Emma Thompson stars in new romantic comedy ‘What’s Love Got to Do With It?’, co-starring Lily James and Shazad Latif.

The Oscar-winning actress has been through a lot of heartbreak in the past, especially after her split from her first husband, Kenneth Branagh.

The couple married in 1989 and were considered the ‘golden couple’ of British acting until Kenneth was revealed to be having an affair with Helena Bonham Carter. The couple divorced in 1995 and he continued to date Carter until 1999.

In an interview with The New Yorker, Thompson talked about filming Sense and Sensibility, for which she won the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay. According to the article, Thompson was “humiliated, in part, by her own stupidity” in not understanding this relationship.

“What I learned was how easy it is to be blinded by your own desire to deceive yourself,” she admitted.
