Arnold Schwarzenegger took on the role of Santa Claus for homeless veterans and their pets. In the spirit of Christmas, the actor and former governor of California donated 25 houses to veterans during the festive season.
The actor paid $ 250,000 to buy the lodges, located in West Los Angeles, according to Fox11.
Schwarzenegger communicated this effort on social media, explaining the reasons why he did it.
“The 25 homes I donated to homeless veterans were placed here in Los Angeles. “It was fantastic to spend some time with our heroes and welcome them to their new homes,” Schwarzenegger wrote.
“I want to thank @villageforvets who tidied up the houses and was a fantastic partner, @secvetaffairs, @amvetshq and everyone who worked with us and made it possible. “We have shown that when we all work together, we can solve any problem.”
The Village for Vets told The Post that there were “just under 4,000 homeless veterans in Los Angeles at the last census in 2020.”
“The shelter to which Governor Schwarzenegger so generously donated is a partnership with the VA and is designed to be a transitional respite for homeless veterans, including living on the streets and entering a higher standard of care – permanent housing” , announced the Village for Vets.
The “Terminator” star told Fox11: “It makes me feel good that I can give something back to this country that has given me everything. I had this great success, only because of America… Whatever I did, I achieved it because of America, so for me it is always great to give something back “.
