“Homeless” will stay in Britain Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Marklesince o King Charles decided to evict them from their Windsor residence after the publication of his second son’s “explosive” autobiography.

According to The Sun and The Telegraph newspapers, Buckingham served the eviction notice on the couple, who have been ramping up their attacks on the crown since stepping down from official duties and leaving the UK in 2020.

Frogmore Cottage, a 5-room residence located within the royal estate of Windsor Castle in west London, was given to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex by Queen Elizabeth as a wedding gift in 2018. The couple decided to renovate the house but the cost borne by the taxpayers, which reached 2 million euros, shocked the British. Prince Harry was forced to return the money after he left with his wife for the US.

The Sun newspaper reports that Charles has not proposed a new royal residence to the Sussexes, meaning they will not have their own home to stay in on their now infrequent visits to Britain. This decision sounds like a sanction for the publication of the book “Reserve”, in early January, in which Harry blames his family for various issues. He recounts, among other things, a violent row with his brother, Crown Prince William, and claims that his stepmother, royal wife Camilla, leaked their private conversations to the press.

The Sussexes have until early summer, after Charles’ coronation, which is scheduled for May 6, to move any personal belongings that remain at home, according to a source close to the couple. It is unknown whether Harry and Meghan will attend the coronation ceremony, although some media reports that they will be invited.

Their biographer, Omid Scobie, claims, citing sources close to the couple, that Harry and Meghan were “stunned” by this decision which they see as “severe punishment”.

Charles will reportedly ask his brother, Prince Andrew, to move into Frogmore Cottage, leaving his luxury residence at Royal Lodge, also in Windsor. Andrew fell out of favor after being accused of sexual assault and his friendship with American stockbroker Jeffrey Epstein, who was convicted of sexually abusing minors. The king, who British media say wants to rein in the monarchy’s spending, is considering stripping him of his £250,000 annual allowance, which would make it difficult for Andrew to maintain the Royal Lodge.

Buckingham declined to comment on the report.
