Brendan Fraser revealed on a recent episode of ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show’ that she nearly died during a dangerous scene gone wrong on the set of ‘The Mummy’. The Oscar-nominated actor said he “accidentally drowned” during a scene in which he had to be hanged from a rope.

“I was touching my toes as far as I could as I was hanging from the rope,” Fraser said. “Steven [Σόμερς, σκηνοθέτης της ταινίας] ran over and said, ‘Hey, it doesn’t really look like a drowning.'”

The production team shot one more take. Fraser said: “The camera started recording and I was on my toes and the guy holding the rope over me pulled a bit more and my toes came off and I had nowhere to go but down. So he would pull up and I would go down. And then the next thing I saw was my elbow in my ear, the world was sideways and there was gravel in my teeth.”

The film’s stuntman was quick to bring in Fraser. When he did, he told the actor: “Congratulations, you’re in the club – the same thing happened to Mel Gibson in ‘Braveheart’.”
