From now on, every time a person tries to follow actress Regina Duarte, 76, on Instagram, they receive an alert that her profile usually publishes a lot of fake news. “Are you sure you want to follow Regina Duarte?” she says.
“This account has repeatedly posted false information that has been reviewed by independent fact-checkers or is against our Community Guidelines,” reads the alert once a new user clicks “follow”.
There were many times when Regina Duarte, who was also Jair Bolsonaro’s (PL) special secretary for Culture, published untruths. Last month, after posting false information about the Yanomami, the actress released fake news about the electoral process.
In a post on Instagram, she shared a video of Felipe Marcelo Gimenez, attorney for Mato Grosso do Sul. In the publication, Gimenez questioned, without any basis, Lula’s victory over Jair Bolsonaro in the second round of last year’s elections.
The prosecutor’s thesis, with which Regina Duarte indicated her agreement, was that Lula would have been chosen through an action involving the Federal Supreme Court and the Superior Electoral Court.
That same day, Regina made a post questioning vaccines. “I worry that we will be subject to the obligation to take one more vaccine. So, has it not been proven that vaccines do not prevent contagion or harmful consequences for our bodies? I prefer the freedom of relying on stimulants and invigorating my defense capacity, that is , the immune capacity of my organism”, wrote Regina Duarte.
