The recovery of winter destinations at Christmas and New Year, confirmed the Minister of Tourism Vassilis Kikilias in a series of telephone conversations he made today with the Governors of the peak winter tourist destinations, while emphasizing the importance of faithful observance of special sanitary measures. “O” is on the rise.
Specifically, the Minister of Tourism contacted the governor of Epirus Alexandros Kachrimanis, the governor of Central Greece Fanis Spanos, the governor of the Peloponnese Panagiotis Nikas, the governor of Western Greece Nektaros Periparkeas Giorgis Farmakis, Farmarikas Giorgis Farmakis.
The Regional Governors confirmed to the Minister of Tourism that the winter destinations went very well during the Christmas and New Year periods and have very satisfactory reservations for the Epiphany as well. In fact, as they characteristically mentioned, the most popular destinations had very high occupancy.
Mr. Kikilias expressed his satisfaction with the fact that after two years of pandemic, winter destinations are recovering, something that strengthens both the hotel industry and the catering and trade sectors. He also advised everyone to pay special attention to the observance of the health protocols, as well as to the strict application of the safety rules (masks, distances, hand hygiene), as the pandemic, through the “O” mutation, causes an unstable and fluid framework around the globe.
Finally, the Minister of Tourism informed the Regional Governors that he will convene the Regional Tourism Council in the near future.
