Makeup-free and casual, she sang “Hold My Hand” from the film “Top Gun: Maverick” and dedicated it to the film’s director, Tony Scott, who committed suicide on August 19
Lady Gaga finally made a surprise appearance yesterday and not only attended the Oscars (although she had initially announced that she would not be going to the awards) but also took the stage at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles and performed her nominated song “Hold My Hand” from the movie “Top Gun: Maverick”.
Dressed in black, with a T-shirt, ripped jeans, sneakers and almost no make-up (no relation to her stunning appearance on the… now white Oscars carpet), Lady Gaga emotionally sang the ballad and dedicated it to the film’s director, Tony Scott, who jumped off a bridge on August 19, ending his own life.

“I wrote it in the basement of my house. It’s a deeply personal song. We all need love in our lives. We all need a hero and heroes can be hidden everywhere. But you may discover that you are your own hero – even if inside you are a thousand pieces”, said the star excitedly before starting her performance.
At the end of her performance, the audience stood up and gave her a standing ovation.
