A few words about the show

The rich scenery, the evocative lighting, the brilliant costumes, the excellent soloists and the corps de ballet of the Classical Ballet Of Eastern Europe compose an impressive production, a true fairytale spectacle that will fascinate young and old!

The fantastical atmosphere of “Cinderella”, Charles Perrault’s world-loved fairy tale that has moved audiences around the world for almost two centuries, comes to life on the stage of the Christmas Theater.

“Cinderella” is a famous fairy tale written by a famous storyteller, Charles Perrault (1628-1703), who lived in France and loved to roam the villages and listen to folk tales. In 1697, she published the collection The Fairy Tales of Mother Goose, which included, among others, “Cinderella”, “Little Red Riding Hood”, “Puss in Boots” and other stories for young and old children, which were loved by many generations of readers.

Perrault’s stories enchanted from time to time great composers – and not only – from different countries. One of them was Sergei Prokofiev (1891-1953), the great Russian composer who composed wonderful melodies – both serious and comic – for the dance version of Cinderella. It took him four years to write the music (1940-1944). His work was premiered by the Bolshoi Ballet with great success in 1945 choreographed by Rostislav Zakharov with the legendary ballerina Galina Ulanova in the lead role.
