With a particularly moving post, Finos Film wanted to honor the great artist Manolis Chiotis, who was born and died on the same day, at the age of 50, in 1970 from heart failure.

In the video published on its official page, Finos Film shows beautiful moments of the bouzouki virtuoso, which have remained indelible in the movies.

“Pioneer, inventive and extremely talented, Manolis Chiotis was rightly described as an “aristocrat of rebetis”, after he succeeded in reconciling the so-called good society with the bouzouki and establishing the archontorebetiko in the 50s. He revolutionized Greek music when he invented the four-string bouzouki, while he was the first to use an amplifier in his performances.

His awards went beyond the borders of our country, receiving triumphant comments from many international stars, such as Jimi Hendrix, Anthony Perkins, Elizabeth Taylor, Maria Callas, etc., while in 1964 he performed with Mary Linda at the White House for the birthday of US President Lyndon Johnson.

In his short life (50 years), Manolis Chiotis composed over 1500 songs and worked closely with the biggest names in Greek music, such as Mikis Theodorakis and Manos Hadjidakis. His greatest successes were attributed to his great partner and second wife, Mary Linda, with whom they also collaborated closely in the cinema.

His relationship with Finos Film began very early, in 1948, with the film “Lost Angels” and continued in five more films until 1964, with his most characteristic appearance in the film “My Friend Lefterakis” by Alekos Sakellarios, with Dino Iliopoulos involving Chiotis in the script, playing of course.. himself.
Today is a double anniversary for Manolis Chiotis, since he was born and died on the same day with a difference of fifty years”, she writes in her post.
