Known for her makeup clips, Karen said she looked back at old scans, from when she was 18, to check out the possibility. A little over a year ago, the youtuber spoke about having difficulties producing hormones.
“It took a few months for me to become curious about whether or not I was really an intersex person. It didn’t seem true to me. It’s something you need to understand, accept and seek your story,” she began.
Intersex is the term given to people who are born with biological sex characteristics that do not fit into typical female or male gender categories. “Categorizing in a general term for people to understand, I am female pseudo-hermaphrodite, where I have the genitals and the internal organs, but I don’t have any kind of hormone”, he detailed.
She recalled that, at the time of the previous exams, they stated that she had entered menopause. “But I always thought it was very strange. If I had menstruated, I would have known. I told this to the doctors, who said: ‘Oh, sometimes it was just a little while and you didn’t realize it, and this diagnosis was imposed on me and that I should take female hormones, which is taking estrogen. I started taking birth control pills, which replaced what my body didn’t produce”.
She concluded the explanation with the sentence: “That was the body I was born with, really. I was born with characteristics that are atypical for the female sex, and that is called intersex”. Married for about two years to the German Janosh, Karen also said that the discovery implied changes in her sex life. Initially, when using supplemental testosterone, the libido “went to zero”.
“I didn’t feel well, it seemed that something was wrong, I didn’t want anyone to see me naked and I didn’t want to be touched. It was a very difficult period. Now, I feel that my libido has returned, I can look at myself in the mirror naked”, she guaranteed. .
